The French brand celebrates 10 years of its Palais Royal
boutique with a capsule collection inspired by Daniel Buren's graphic
stripes and Paul Bury's optical illusions, which can be seen in the
public artwork at the Palais Royal from the store at 156, galerie de
Valois.
With experimental shapes, sculptural styles, laser cut leather, stiletto heels and graphic trainers, Pierre Hardy's latest collection draws heavily on architecture. After studying fine art and then learning the footwear design ropes at Christian Dior and Hèrmes,
where he was design director for women's footwear, the designer founded
his own eponymous shoe brand in 1999. In 2003, he opened his first
Parisian boutique in the Palais Royal gardens, a monumental center of
French history. To celebrate a decade in the Paris hotspot, Pierre Hardy created Palais Royal, an ultra graphic capsule collection and homage to two of the most famous pieces of art at Palais Royal: Buren's columns and Paul Bury's
fountain. A pair of sneakers and a stiletto shoe in graphic black and
white leather stripes are collection standouts, packing just as much of a
style punch in flats or heels
